Punjab News: In a landmark achievement for agriculture in Punjab, the state government has launched its largest-ever lift irrigation scheme, worth ₹86.21 crore, to transform farming in the Changar region. The project, championed by Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's leadership, fulfills a decades-old demand of the local farming community.
Canal Water for 10+ Villages
The scheme aims to deliver canal water to over 2,762 acres of farmland, directly benefiting farmers in 10+ villages of Changar. This initiative is expected to revitalize agriculture in the region, which has long struggled with water scarcity and limited irrigation options.
A Constructive Approach
AAP leaders emphasized that the project reflects the government’s commitment to constructive governance and rural development. Minister Harjot Bains highlighted the significance of the project as a turning point for Changar’s farmers, enabling better crop yields and sustainable farming practices.
Boost to Agriculture and Livelihoods
By addressing irrigation challenges in the hilly and semi-arid terrain of Changar, the lift irrigation scheme is expected to boost the region’s agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of thousands of farmers.
The government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive development continues to pave the way for a brighter future for Punjab’s rural communities.
